RETAIL POWWOW: Senior retail, luxury and beauty executives are expected to gather at the Global Department Store Summit being held May 10 and 11 at the Pompidou Center in Paris. It will be the third edition of the summit, which is held every two years and has previously taken place in London and New York.
Speakers include Paolo de Cesare of Printemps, William Lauder of the Estée Lauder Cos., Yves Carcelle of Louis Vuitton, Peter Partma of Tsum, Philippe Houzé of Galeries Lafayette, Alannah Weston of Selfridges, Vittorio Radice of La Rinascente, Andy Street of John Lewis, Tsutomu Okuda of J. Front Retailing (Daimaru/Matsuzakaya), Robert Wallstrom of Saks Off Fifth, Steven Lowy of Westfield Group, Philip Shearer of Groupe Clarins, Andrew Jennings of Karstadt, Tos Chirathivat of Central Retail Corp., Richard Lepeu of Richemont, Bernie Brookes of Myer Holdings and Datuk Alfred Cheng of Parkson Retail Group. Also speaking are Michael Dart of Kurt Salmon and Dana Telsey of Telsey Advisory Group.
The conference, which is fully subscribed, is being organized by Printemps and the Intercontinental Group of Department Stores. The winner of the “department store of the year” award will be named during the summit dinner. The three finalists are Macy’s, Selfridges and Woolworths South Africa.
