ITALY TAKES 10: Under the watchful eye of architect Massimo Vignelli, 10 recent Italian graduates have been chosen to show their work in the “Top Young Italian Industrial Designers — Slow Design Exhibition” at the Italian Cultural Institute of New York. Meeting Vignelli, whose design portfolio includes the iconic New York City subway map, is just one of the upsides of being part of the show. Winners will also rub shoulders with Franca Sozzani and Lapo Elkann at the Sept. 9 opening night party.
During their 10-day stay in New York, the new graduates from Politecnico of Milan, Politecnico of Turin and the European Design Institute will have meet-and-greets with museum curators and deans to hopefully further a cultural exchange. The Italian contingency’s work will also be presented during Art Basel Miami Beach.
