Tod’s secured three of the most iconic faces of fashion for its fall campaign: Twiggy, Jane Birkin and Jean Shrimpton all appear in the ads. How did Tod’s manage to book them? Through Getty Images.
The Italian leather-goods company decided to use stock photography of the models, licensed through Getty, to run in its “Timeless Icons” campaign. Tod’s considers its new collection of accessories, including a moccasin and messenger bag bearing its new silver Double T hardware, iconic as well as the famous models.
As for the stock photos — all black-and-white — the Shrimpton image was shot circa 1960, by photographer Brian Duffy; the Twiggy shot came via Getty by way of Popperfoto, the photo library founded by photojournalist Paul Popper, and Birkin’s photo, from 1970, was originally sourced from Reporters Associes.
The campaign will break in print editions of luxury magazines beginning with September issues.
