U.K. Men’s Forecast to Grow 27%

The market grew 4.8 percent last year, Mintel data shows.

MEN’S BY NUMBERS: The U.K. men’s fashion market is on course to grow 27 percent by 2018 to a value of 16.4 billion pounds, or $27.8 billion, according to Mintel data released by the British Fashion Council at the start of London Collections: Men, which kicked off today and runs through Tuesday.

Mintel’s data also showed that between 2008 and 2013, the U.K. men’s wear market grew by 18 percent, to reach a value of 12.9 billion pounds, or $21.9 billion. Over the last year, sales in the market have grown by 4.8 percent, with retailers “increasingly turning their attention to men’s wear,” Mintel said. This season the men’s wear showcase will host 30 percent more buyers than last season and last year, according to the BFC.
