Fast Retailing’s Uniqlo chain said Tuesday it will open a global flagship store in Singapore this fall, which will be its largest store in the country and in Southeast Asia.
The 29,000-square-foot, three-level store will be located in the Orchard Center, a vertical mall along Orchard Road.
Uniqlo entered the Singapore market in 2009. As of end of February, the Japanese chain had 24 stores in Singapore and another 99 in the rest of Southeast Asia, across Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia.
As reported, Fast Retailing chairman, president and chief executive officer Tadashi Yanai is aiming to make his company the world’s largest apparel retailer by 2020 and international expansion is a key component of the strategy.
