V DAY: Diana Vreeland fever is about to hit Europe. Jean Paul Gaultier has already booked his ticket for Claire Nadeau’s critically acclaimed stage portrayal of the iconic American fashion editor in “La Divine Miss V.” due to open at Paris’ Rond Point theater on Wednesday. Directed by Jean-Paul Muel, the show is an adaptation of Mark Hampton and Mary Louise Wilson’s play, “Full Gallop,” based on Vreeland’s memoirs. Meanwhile, Milan Fashion Week will see the opening of Luna magazine’s exhibition “Vreelandesque,” held at Villa Necchi Campiglio. The event will run Sept. 24 to 26.
THEN & NOW: The young are traditionally supposed to learn from their elders, but Sigerson Morrison is reversing the dictum. The 17-year-old New York accessories firm has collaborated with Pringle of Scotland, the 193-year-old ready-to-wear brand, on a footwear collection for spring. Designs include napa mules with draped straps and knots in cream, gray and dusty pink. “We have really enjoyed sharing the process of building these shoes with Clare [Waight Keller, Pringle’s creative director] and her team,” said designer Kari Sigerson. “It seems that we have a common language of styles,” added Miranda Morrison. Pringle’s spring collection will be shown in Milan on Sept. 22. The Sigerson Morrison for Pringle line will be sold in Sigerson Morrison stores beginning in February.
HOPING FOR HOSIERY: “Your ankles remind me of my father’s,” Vera Wang said to a model at her private showing of the spring Lavender Label collection. “It’s true, they do. My father used to wear these sheer silk socks just like those. It’s very Chinese.” The designer, who already has signed a license for Lavender Label shoes and bags, said she would like a hosiery license to be in her near future. “Hosiery is such a fascinating category, especially since I’m such a legging girl,” Wang said. “Maybe Hanes will come find me. It would be such a natural.”
BACKSTAGE BLOGGERS: It looks as if backstage gossip will soon be a thing of the past. Loose-lipped — and marketing minded — makeup artists from MAC Cosmetics are now “twittering” as they prep models this season. The MAC Pro team is penning microblogs, or “twitter,” about backstage happenings and trends, which will appear on Facebook. In addition, they plan to trial products in development, including a moisturizing foundation, a concealer, a lip gloss, a loose pigment formula, a mineral cake eyeliner and eye base.
GOING FOR GOLD: Who said all that glitters isn’t gold? Not London-based Belmacz jewelry designer Julia Muggenburg, who’s added flecks of the precious metal to a multipurpose beauty balm dubbed Halo. The ointment, which bowed in stores including Barneys New York and Colette on Monday, also comprises crushed pearls, rose-hip oil and cocoa butter. It’s priced at 38 pounds, or $68, at current exchange. “The gold gives pleasure,” said Muggenburg. “It has a nice way of blending into the formula once you apply it.” Belmacz’s nascent beauty lineup also includes gold-flecked lip glosses and Oyster Pearl Powder.
