As a further sign of its love for and connection to Rome, Valentino gifted the Italian capital with a Christmas tree, presented at a special lighting ceremony held on Friday afternoon. Located near the Spanish Steps in Piazza Mignanelli, which also houses the group’s headquarters, creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, together with chief executive officer Stefano Sassi, celebrated the moment with sweets and Christmas songs around the tree, towering at almost 50 feet.
“We thought of wishes of peace and serenity for Rome, offering a special decoration to Piazza Mignanelli: a tree full of lights to celebrate Christmas with the whole city,” said the designers.
Later in the afternoon, Chiuri and Piccioli presented the 400-page Assouline book “Valentino: Mirabilia Romae [Marvels of Rome]” at the brand’s Piazza di Spagna flagship.
Special Christmas concerts and choral performances will be held until Christmas Eve starting at 5 p.m.
