VALENTINO’S SWEDISH BRIDE: Valentino Garavani continues to design for royalty. The retired couturier created the gown worn by Princess Madeleine of Sweden for her wedding to Christopher O’Neill on Saturday in Stockholm.
The dress, made in silk organdies with applications of ivory Chantilly lace, was accented at the waist by small vertical pleats that opened and spread out on the full skirt with a four-meter long train. The veil, at six meters long, featured silk organdies edged with tulle point d’esprit with an application of Chantilly lace flowers, and the royal tiara was decorated with fresh orange blossoms.

“Working with Princess Madeleine has just been so easy,” said the designer. “She is very lovely girl. She is modern, fun, full of energy and enthusiasm, and she is so beautiful! It has been a pleasure and an honor.”
Valentino has over the years created wedding dresses for the likes of Jacqueline Onassis, Queen Máxima of Holland and Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece — in addition to Hollywood A-listers such as Anne Hathaway last year.
