Vanessa Seward to Design Theater Costumes

She will create clothes for Paris’ Théâtre du Châtelet’s rendition of “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.”

STAGE SIGHT: Vanessa Seward is trying her hand at costumes for the stage. The designer — who has been collaborating with A.P.C. — will craft the wardrobe for actors in “The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.”

The play is set to start at Paris’ Théâtre du Châtelet in September and will involve French musical composer Michel Legrand. Décor is by cartoonist Jean-Jacques Sempé.

“It’s something new,” said Seward, who had previously designed for Azzaro. “What’s wonderful is that the Théâtre du Châtelet has an atelier.” Seward is to start on the designs for the play in June.
