VIA SPIGA TO MOVE UPTOWN: Following the appointment of Edmundo Castillo as Via Spiga’s creative director last September as part of a strategy to “elevate” 27-year-old footwear company Via Spiga, the brand is moving from its SoHo flagship on Broadway and relocating uptown. The current store will shutter its doors on May 19 — and the new boutique will open in the fall (the exact location is to be determined). The space will carry the brand’s fall 2012 collection — the first designed by Castillo — that will retail from $185 to $425. “We’ve been elevating the brand on all fronts. The new direction of Via Spiga will reflect the chic, modern, and sophisticated with an edgy sensibility that Edmundo Castillo brings to life with his use of colors and materials,” said Jay Schmidt, president, better and image brands at Brown Shoe Company, parent company of Via Spiga. Even though the store won’t open for several months, starting in June, customers can purchase the fall offerings online at viaspiga.com and Bloomingdale’s.
