AUGMENTED REALITY: Victoria Beckham took advantage of Paris Fashion Week to give bloggers a closer look at her clothing and accessories ranges.
At the presentation, held at the residence of Britain’s Ambassador to France, Sir Peter Ricketts, the designer said she would begin selling her main ready-to-wear collection online next January.
The victoriabeckham.com site already carries the contemporary Victoria Victoria Beckham line, accessories, eyewear and denim, alongside a selection of reissued dresses from previous seasons.
Beckham gamely posed for cellphone pictures with social media fixtures such as Style Bubble’s Susanna Lau and Leandra Medine of Man Repeller. “Oh, wait — I think I smiled,” a tongue-in-cheek Beckham said at one point, before posing again wearing her signature pout.
The former Spice Girl dropped some hints about her upcoming venture with Skype, which will highlight five years of her brand and designs.
“It’s not a reality TV show. It’s a documentary. I’m very excited about the collaboration with Skype. People will really see me at work. This isn’t about my personal life, this isn’t about my family life, this isn’t about my home. This is about being a businesswoman and how I’m taking my business to the next level,” she said.
But don’t expect to see a warts-and-all look behind the scenes. “Somebody wrote that every night I was in my dressing gown and I was on Skype, but it wasn’t quite like that,” she said. “I don’t do any designing over Skype. I was misinterpreted, let’s clear that up now, but just to keep in touch with my team, it’s very important.”
Beckham said she would also be using the program to mentor other creative types, including photographers and other designers.
“The digital world is very, very important to me, and people can really see it through my eyes. I’m working with incredible directors and producers, all award-winning, so this is going to be very sophisticated, very chic,” she added. “It’s very, very interesting, and I haven’t seen this done before.”
