VIDAL’S REDUX: Six months after British hairstyling legend Vidal Sassoon died of leukemia, his name lives on through a new line Procter & Gamble will launch in January in brick-and-mortar distribution, with a Web site preview on Dec. 1. The line, called Vidal Sassoon Pro Series, contains 20 stockkeeping units broken down into seven collections within three larger groups: Care and Styling, Styling and Finishing and Salon Quality Color. The products range in price from $2.49 to $8.99.
The new Sassoon line will be sold in more than 40,000 food, drug and mass retailers in the U.S., and the Web site preview will be at pgestore.com. The new products are expected to generate sales of $50 million at retail in the U.S. for the first year on counter.
