LIFE’S A BEACH: Vilebrequin, the swimwear brand born in St. Tropez, has signed a lease for a 971-square-foot store at Brookfield Place, the downtown retail and dining destination at 250 Vesey Street. Vilebrequin in March will join Hermes, Burberry, Ferragamo, Michael Kors, Emenegildo Zenga, Scoop, Theory and other brands moving into 250,000-square-foot urban mall. Vilebrequin already operates two stores New York City, on Madison Avenue and in SoHo. The Brookfield Place location will be its largest. Inspired by travel and faraway beaches, the store will be inspired by the company’s Mediterranean global Dune retail concept, which will be decorated in summery colors. Edward Hogan, national director of retail leasing at Brookfield, said, Vilebrequin’s “iconic designs and family ethos has an international recognition” that will underscore Brookfield Place’s luxury emphasis. “The opening of a store downtown in New York’s financial district is a strategic move to place the Vilebrequin brand in shopping areas that cater to a mix of both local and traveling customers of luxury.” The store will offer swimwear for men, women, boys and girls as well as men’s sportswear such as linen shirts, shorts and pants and cotton T-shirts.
