FESTIVE TREATS: Vivienne Westwood and Aqua Shard have teamed on a collaboration to raise funds for Cool Earth, a rainforest charity. The designer and activist will decorate an 18-foot Christmas tree for the British restaurant, to be displayed in its atrium. With the London skyline as the backdrop, the tree will be draped in fairy lights adorned with colorful beading, made by a women’s cooperative within the Ashaninka community in Peru. The design of the tree is a nod to Westwood’s environmentalist ethos.
In addition, Westwood and her design partner and husband Andreas Kronthaler have created a selection of sweets: limited edition chocolate bars, a chocolate mousse and a Johnie Walker Blue Label cocktail, comprised of a mix of orange bitters and chestnut and rhubarb liqueurs. The assortment will be available on the menu from the Nov. 23 to Dec. 31.
In support of the rainforest charity, the chocolate used for the mousse was sourced from rare criollo beans harvested in Peru. Half the proceeds from the chocolate mousse, priced at 8 pounds, or $12, and the cocktail, priced at 15 pounds, or $22.70, will be going towards the charity, to aid a new project in Papua New Guinea.
