LADIES MEN: Design duo Byron and Dexter Peart of Want Les Essentiels de la vie, have decided it’s the ladies turn. After designing their men’s line of leather bags and tech accessories for over seven years, the duo is now adapting their style for a line of women’s handbags. The brand first tested the women’s market last year with a collaboration with J. Crew. The new line consists of four key shapes — the City, a small cross-body; the Douglas, a satchel that comes in a day style and weekender, and the O’Hare tote, a popular unisex style that has been adapted from the men’s collection by updating the hardware from silver to gold. The duo, who are also brothers, opted to price bags competitively with the men’s market and not add the mark up for similar products that would be more in line with current women’s handbag prices. “We wanted it to be everyday luxury to fit into the lifestyle of a busy women on the go and to also be attainable” said Byron while presenting the line at Barneys New York, where it will debut Wednesday and at Tomorrowland internationally.
