WATCHING THE CLOCK: Somewhere between the serving of the second course and dessert, Stefano Macaluso, managing director of Girard-Perregaux, decided to serenade a room of VIP dinner guests at the Core Club Thursday night. In a moody rendition of Elvis’ “Love Me Tender,” Macaluso provided an unanticipated interlude while artist Charlene Lanzel readied the music that would accompany her performance-art piece. Guests including Rudolph Guiliani, Hamilton Fish, Gil and Anita Fields, Katrin Theodoli, Steve Hasker, Sam Hines, Laurent Claquin, Gaetano Sallorenzo and Macaluso watched Lanzel’s mesmerizing sand art performance, which became popularized by Ukranian artist Kseniya Simonova. The dinner, which feted Girard-Perregaux’s 220th anniversary, followed an invite-only cocktail reception in the Swiss brand’s Madison Avenue store where guests sipped champagne and viewed its traveling exhibition on watch making.
