WELCOME TO CLEVELAND: Starter didn’t waste any time.
Two days after the news broke that NBA power forward/center Kevin Love would join LeBron James and Kyrie Irving on the Cleveland Cavaliers’ roster next season, Starter unveiled a billboard in downtown Cleveland revealing Love as the company’s newest brand ambassador. The billboard went up on Monday and is the athlete’s first initiative for the brand. Love will appear in other national advertising campaign and marketing initiatives for Starter during this year and next.
Seth Horowitz, chief operating officer of the Iconix Brand Group, which owns Starter, said, “The Starter brand has always been the authentic choice for fans that are passionate about their teams. Kevin’s passion for the game embodies that same emotion. We wish him the best in Cleveland.”
Starter was founded in 1971 and its star logo is found on league-licensed outerwear from the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and NCAA.
Love was drafted in 2008 by the Minnesota Timberwolves and is a three-time NBA All-Star, Pac-10 Player of the Year, Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, first-team All-American and Olympic Gold Medalist.
