WHEEL OF FORTUNE: Lorenzo Martone, who launched his own range of bicycles last year, will be setting up shop at New York’s Paramount Hotel today. His first pop-up shop will introduce his new product, the Marton-E, a bicycle powered by a rechargeable battery. Martone said that he created the bicycle for his many friends who requested an added “boost” element.
“A lot of people don’t mind paddling home and working out, but they don’t want to get sweaty riding a bike to work,” he said.
The bike will be able to run 25 miles on a single charge and will go for $2,900 come June 1, when it will be available at saks.com.
Along with his signature bikes, the pop-up shop will carry a few accessories exclusive to the shop, including iPhone cases, T-shirts and water bottles. Other accessories by the Brooklyn-based artist Justin Teodoro will be on sale. The shop opens today from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. but will be opened every Tuesday through Sunday until April 20.
