After all the ceremony and celebration of their wedding day Friday, the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are taking some time out before leaving for their honeymoon.
St. James’s Palace said Saturday that William and Kate have chosen not to depart for a honeymoon immediately, and will instead “spend the weekend privately in the United Kingdom.” Next week, William will return to his work as a search and rescue pilot for the Royal Air Force.
The palace released images of William and Kate leaving Buckingham Palace Saturday before boarding a helicopter to an undisclosed U.K. destination, which showed Kate back to her low-key style, wearing a floaty, blue knee-length dress with a nipped in blue jacket and wedge-heeled shoes. The palace declined to give details of which designer she was wearing.
The palace also took the opportunity to appeal for “privacy” for the couple during the weekend and during their honeymoon, when it takes place. It noted that the couple’s weekend destination and the destination of their future “overseas” honeymoon will not be disclosed in advance.
