WILLIAM RAST ROCKS INTO LONDON: To mark its return to the European market, William Rast showcased its fall 2014 collection in London Wednesday, with a presentation in Covent Garden. There, the label spotlighted men’s and women’s collection inspired by Americana, biker culture and its founders Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala’s southern roots, with pieces such as leather coveralls, shearling jackets and jeans done in a patchwork of denims. Timberlake — who was in London for his 20/20 Experience concert tour — wasn’t present at the event, but Ayala noted that the musician’s plans for the label are ambitious. “[Timberlake’s] is one of those guys who is such a perfectionist in every single thing that he does,” said Ayala. “His plans for the future are so massive that you know, listening to him talk about it…I’m like ‘Is this obtainable? Can we do this?’”
William Rast, which is majority owned by Sequential Brands Group Inc., has been re-introduced to several European retailers for spring, including AppelrathCüpper and Görgens Gruppe in Germany; Manor in Switzerland and USC in London, alongside online e-tailers Zalando in Germany and Yoox in Italy. Sequential also plans to launch the brand in new markets including Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
