WITTLEBEE’S DEAL: Wittlebee, a monthly membership service that ships parents a box of curated children’s apparel essentials, has acquired one of its vendors, Cottonseed Clothing, which makes apparel basics for children under the Cottonseed label. The apparel items for kids in sizes 0 to 5 are made in India. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sean Percival, chief executive officer, said Cottonseed’s founder and owner Erin Gutierrez will not be joining Wittlebee, but will remain in an advisory role. The company is working with other vendors for a private label line called Wittlebee.

Wittlebee, which raised $2.5 million in seed funding in May, is likely to seek an additional round of funding during the first quarter of 2013, the ceo said. Percival also said his company is eyeing more acquisitions of apparel firms that are involved in direct marketing to parents.
