Women & Fashion FilmFest Getting a Head Start on Festivities

The event doesn’t officially start until Saturday, but the fashion world will kick things off with a party in the Lower East Side on Wednesday.

GIRLS ON FILM: The inaugural Women & Fashion FilmFest doesn’t start until Saturday, but the fashion world will kick off the festivities Wednesday night with a party at Bobby’s on the Lower East Side.

David Boatman, Stephen Burrows, Cornelia Guest, Julie Pacino, Zac Posen, Prince Lorenzo Borghese, Maggie Norris and Joanna Mastroianni will be among the revelers. The Women & Fashion FilmFest will feature 14 screenings and six panel discussions. The lineup includes David Redmon’s and Ashley Sabin’s documentary “Girl Model,” Timothy Greenfield-Saunders’ “About Face: Supermodels, Then & Now” David Boatman’s “Ralph Rucci: A Designer and his House” and Jill Bauer’s and Ronna Gradus’ “Sexy Baby.” There will also be such short films as Inez Van Lamsweerde’s and Vinoodh Matadin’s Lady Gaga series and Stuart Weitzman’s “Walking After Midnight” starring Petra Nemcova and directed by James Franco.

The Scandinavia House event will feature such post-screening talks as “Women & the Business of Fashion” with Guest, Patricia Field and FIT’s Colette Wong. Pacino will discuss “Women & The Business of Entertainment,” and Model Alliance founder Sara Ziff and Trump Model Management’s Corinne Nicolas will chat about “Safeguarding Our Girls.”
