SHANGHAI SONG: A celebrity contingent gathered in Shanghai on Thursday night to celebrate the worldwide launch of the women’s Montblanc Boheme collection. On display, a collection of jewel encrusted watches and writing implements and the artisans who made them. Demonstrating their art to VIP Chinese consumers, these craftspeople were the opening act of an event that was equal parts education and entertainment. Chris Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky, South Korean actress Kim Hee-ae and Taiwanese star, Gwei Lun-Mei – the woman Montblanc chief executive officer Jerome Lambert described as “the ideal Madame Boheme” – walked the red carpet and toasted the launch. “We thought Shanghai would be the perfect place to unveil this new ladies line, Boheme,” Lambert said.
“I have to say, you ladies in Shanghai have been our inspiration, our compass as we were creating this new line.”
Once the champagne quaffing crowds had filed in, the entertainment portion of the evening kicked into gear in the former Shanghai Expo venue on the city’s iconic Huangpu River.
A live string section, ribbon twirlers, dancers and acrobats provided the entertainment. As well as, of course, a parade of model “Boheme women”, each one sleek, modern and glittering with Montblanc arm candy.
