Miss America to Wear Helen Yarmak in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Last weekend Nina Davuluri buzzed by the designer's New York office to pick up a fitted blue mink coat to wear on the Miss America float.

YARMAK’S TALENT CONTEST: While some are scrambling to find last-minute Halloween costumes, the newly crowned Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri is already squared away with what she will wear for Thanksgiving. Last weekend she buzzed by Helen Yarmak’s New York office to pick up a fitted blue mink coat to wear on the Miss America float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Another beauty queen, the 2012 Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, recently dropped by Yarmak’s Fifth Avenue space for a fur to wear to the 2013 Miss Universe pageant. Culpo planned to pay a visit to Yarmak Wednesday at her showroom in Moscow. The designer’s home city will host the competition on Nov. 9. But like their tiaras, the furs were only given to them on loan.

Yarmak has seen her share of former contestants this fall. Vanessa Williams, who once held the Miss America crown, turned up at the designer’s September runway show which was styled by her friend Patricia Field.
