EN POINTE: Yigal Azrouel has designed the costumes for choreographer Emery LeCrone’s two Works & Process commissions that will be presented at the Guggenheim New York March 23 and 24. Pianist Vassily Primikov will perform Bach’s Partita No. 2 in C Minor for the “Bach Interpreted” evening. One piece will feature New York City Ballet dancers Tyler Angle and Teresa Reichlen and American Ballet Theatre dancers Stella Abrera and Alex Hammoudi. The second contemporary work will be performed by Sarah Atkins, Kaitlyn Gilliand, Pierre Guilbault, Richard Isaac, Kimi Nikaidoh and Alredo Solivan.
Azrouel’s patchwork patterns were inspired by the designer’s lines in regards to their form and movement. There are patches of silk organza, embroidered eyelet, leather, double-faced mesh and Lycra, reminiscent of the designer’s spring 2014 collection. He also created the leather headbands that dancers will wear.
Azrouel and LeCrone will talk about their collaboration with NYCB’s principal dancer Jared Angle. Erez Sabag’s short documentary film about the project will also debut at the event later this month.
