GIVING HOPE: Zac Posen has donated 20 new ZAC Zac Posen handbags to The Fashion Project to help raise money for the H.O.P.E. Foundation, the charity of his choice that helps at-risk youths nationwide with guidance and scholarships. The collection will be up for auction online from May 26th through the end of June.
In addition, The H.O.P.E. Foundation’s executive director Nicole DiCocco is leading her own high-end clothing drive in Connecticut, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Through social media and word-of-mouth, she is encouraging fellow fashionistas to dip into their closets to donate gently used designer finds. Fifty-five percent of all proceeds will benefit the foundation. DiCocco said, “Dressing well actually is a benefit and thanks to Fashion Project those items that don’t fit your lifestyle can do more than just make someone else look good.”
A visit to The Fashion Project’s site will allow those who are feeling generous to request pre-paid donation bags and to note online which charity of their choice will benefit from the sale of their garments and/or accessories. Donors will also be able to track how much they’ve helped to raise on the Fashion Project’s site. “Your closet can make a huge impact,” said Fashion Project chief executive Anna Palmer. Once sold, the donor will receive a tax receipt and if they donate more than five quality items and a $40 Nordstrom gift card.
