ON THE RHODES AGAIN: Retirement? What’s that? At 69, Zandra Rhodes is showing no signs of slowing down, and is set to put her name to a diffusion line called Z by Zandra Rhodes, a collaboration with Noelle Reno.
The collection features leggings, jersey capes, and T-shirts with Rhodes’ signature exotic prints. The line will launch in April at Harvey Nichols in London. “I have my own, expensive ready-to-wear line that sells to Barneys, but this is nice because it’s younger and it brings another angle to the label,” said Rhodes during the launch event at London’s Arch Hotel.
Reno, the creative director and driving force behind the new collection, had a similar title at Degrees of Freedom, which she founded with her former fiancé Matthew Mellon.
As for her trademark style, Rhodes said she has no intention of losing her instantly recognizable pink bob. “Well, I don’t intend to go gray, and the pink is easy to maintain myself. When I was first featured in Women’s Wear Daily, I had green hair, but green doesn’t last – it goes like old straw!”
