ZEGNA’S NEW SET: The new, tangibly visible course of Ermenegildo Zegna under the creative direction of Stefano Pilati will take shape in the artistic installation set up for the designer’s debut fashion show. The event, scheduled for June 22, the first day of Milan Men’s Fashion Week, will not be staged at the brand’s sprawling headquarters, but, for the first time, in Piazza VI Febbraio, the city’s old fairgrounds — now called City Life. “It’s a historical location, but it will have a futuristic edge,” said a Zegna spokesman about the venue, which is now identified with the city’s nascent Expo 2015.
To help him create the installation, Pilati has tapped Swedish film director and editor Johan Söderberg; Swedish musician and music producer Klas Ahlund, who has worked with the likes of Madonna, Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue, and French pianist and composer Maxence Cyrin.
While keeping the theme and details under wraps, the spokesman said the installation will have video clips and music. The installation will be open to the public through June 25. The venue, which will seat 1,000 guests, was chosen for its size — more than 27,000 square feet — as the installation has “mammoth dimensions,” said the spokesman, adding that Pilati is also planning “to interact with the city” for his first collection for Agnona in September.
