Hold the lace. Ditch the tulle. A veteran lingerie designer is ruffling up with something altogether different: toilet paper. In support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Vancouver-based Patricia Fieldwalker has created a corseted gown made entirely of pink Cashmere bath tissue. It’s part of an initiative to benefit the foundation, and will be shown along with 14 other designs in a Sept. 23 fashion show sponsored by Cashmere, a Canadian tissue brand. Fieldwalker spent two months working on the fragile frock. “I did everything by hand — the rosettes, ruffles, Swarovski crystals and tucking,” she says. Postshow, the designs will be featured in October windows at Hudson’s Bay’s Toronto flagship, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As for Cashmere’s more accessible pink toilet paper: It goes on sale Oct. 1, with 25 cents from every purchase going to the breast cancer foundation. Here’s hoping our neighbors to the north buy up.
