- DKI INKS KOMAR DEAL: Donna Karan International has signed a licensing deal with The Komar Co. to design, manufacture and distribute sleepwear, robes and loungewear bearing the DKNY and Donna Karan names. Komar, which just celebrated its 100th anniversary, holds the domestic and international rights, a DKI spokeswoman said. DKNY will have a soft launch for holiday selling, which was shown at the May market, and will have an official launch at the August market for the DKNY and Donna Karan collections for spring 2009, she said. Last week, Maidenform Inc. signed a global licensing agreement with DKI to design, source and market a full collection of intimate apparel bearing the DKNY and Donna Karan names. Wacoal held the license for Donna Karan Intimates since 1992, but had not presented a collection for several seasons. Wacoal's 10-year-old license with DKNY Underwear expires at the end of the year.
