TEFRON TAPS LIVNEH: Adi Livneh, chief executive officer of Global-Wire Ltd., a producer and marketer of electrical conductors, has been named ceo of Tefron Ltd., the Misgave, Israel-based manufacturer specializing in seamless innerwear and activewear. Livneh, who will join the firm Sept. 1, succeeds Yos Shiran, who has resigned as ceo and a director of the company. Shiran served as ceo since 2000.
From 2001 to 2007, Livneh was ceo of Kitan Textile Industries, an Israeli home textile developer and manufacturer that sells its products in North America, Europe and Asia. The company credited Livneh with helping to lead its “successful transformation to a worldwide leader in the textile industry.”
Tefron manufactures seamless intimate apparel, activewear and swimwear for such brands and firms as Victoria’s Secret, Nike, Target, The Gap, Banana Republic, J.C. Penney, Lululemon Athletica, Warnaco-Calvin Klein, Patagonia, Reebok, Dolce & Gabbana and El Corte Englese. HUG HONOREES: Betsey Johnson and Century 21 Department Stores have been selected as the honorees for the 2008 HUG Awards. Accepting on behalf of Century 21 will be executive vice president Isaac S. Gindi. Hosted by the Intimate Apparel Square Club, the annual fund-raiser is scheduled for Nov. 5 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York. Now in its 11th year, the event raises funds for the pediatric unit of the Howard A. Rusk Institute of Rehabilitative Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center. In 1999, the IASC pledged $6 million to support programs at the pediatric wing, and has raised more than $3 million. The recipients of the HUG Award, an acronym for Help Us Give, are feted for their community service and contributions to charities and the fashion apparel industry.
