Loeffler Randall is dipping its toes into swimwear.
After launching as a shoe brand in fall 2005, adding handbags in fall 2006 and rolling out ready-to-wear in fall 2007, the young designer line is unveiling swimwear this March.
"I started the shoe line because I couldn't find the shoes I wanted to be wearing," said designer Jessie Randall. "It was the same with swim. I really wanted one-pieces, which are so sweet and sexy in a way."
The collection includes two one-pieces and four bikini bottoms and three bikini tops, which wholesale from $40 to $94. In a palette of charcoal, black, soft pink and bright yellow, the swimwear reflects details from the clothing, including ruffles and colorblocking, and from the shoes, crystal details. The company declined to divulge first-year volume projections.
For its initial season, the line will be carried in about a dozen doors, plus Shopbop.com — a far smaller distribution than the approximately 250 doors for the shoes and 200 doors for the clothes, including stores like Bergdorf Goodman and Barneys New York.
Randall said her next goal is a retail store, rather than another category.
