NEW YORK — As part of its strategy to build the Chado Ralph Rucci business, Jeffry Aronsson has joined the company as chief executive officer.

Aronsson, chairman of the Aronsson Group, started consulting with the label’s chief creative officer, Ralph Rucci, more than six months ago. The company has struggled financially in recent months, and it canceled its Lincoln Center fashion show last fall.
Reached by phone Wednesday, Aronsson said of his new permanent post, “I’m looking at this as one of — if not the — most exciting events in my fashion career.”

Before starting his own consulting business, Aronsson held senior management posts at Oscar de la Renta Ltd., Marc Jacobs International, Donna Karan International and, most recently, he was ceo of Emanuel Ungaro.
With Aronsson on board, Ralph Rucci will continue to focus on design. The company, which opened as Ralph Rucci in 1981 and introduced the Chado label in 1994, is committed to producing all of its samples and collections in America. The Chado Ralph Rucci offices will remain in SoHo at 532 Broadway.
Aronsson said, “Basically, my goal is to exceed the expectations of our customers beyond industry standards. We will do that by exercising priority status for our vendors.”
