ATLANTA — AmericasMart Apparel is returning to a five-day market format after several scheduling changes in the last three years.

Market dates now will run Thursday to Monday, beginning with the show from Aug. 20 to 24. The move replaces the most recent Saturday-to-Monday format, which also offered First View Friday, a day of early buying opportunities in select permanent showrooms.

AmericasMart is making Friday an official market day for its June show, which runs June 12 to 15.

The spring market is scheduled for Oct. 15 to 19, reflecting the new dates, which will continue next year with the exception of the June show. It is slated for a four-day showing, June 10 to 13.

“The new date pattern gives buyers more market days, more weekend and weekday flexibility and more time to discover more product,” said Lori Kisner, senior vice president for all leasing and trade show sales. “The goal behind this change is to further attract retailers, continue to grow our exhibitors’ businesses and to advance our apparel industry market share.”

Michelle Harrison, principle of an eponymous multiline special occasion firm, said she is pleased with the new schedule, primarily because it affords her more face time with buyers.

“They’re finally giving us back our five-day market and that’s what I need,” Harrison said. “It also gives the stores more of an option on when to attend, and if a manufacturer can’t attend five days, maybe they can do four.”

Harrison said Kisner consulted with showroom owners before the decision.

The Atlanta Apparel Market at AmericasMart is held five times a year and has 550 permanent showrooms and 1,000 temporary booths with more than 8,000 lines.
