LOS ANGELES — Like the spring colors at the Los Angeles contemporary fashion market, a four-day event that ended Oct. 18, retail buyers were cheerful about the prospects for the upcoming season.

“We’ve been growing pretty aggressively year over year. We’re going into each season buying more than last year. Our budgets are bigger and we’re looking for more product,” said Susan Gregg Koger, founder and chief creative officer of San Francisco-based e-tailer ModCloth.
