An urban, slightly aggressive angle has been edging into Nicole Miller’s ethos for a while. For spring, she went for it full throttle, sending out a lineup for ladies who are lean and mean in the best possible way. The silhouette was sharp and skintight on stretch shorts — some ruched up the side — tank dresses and microscopic minis of the if-you’ve-got-it-flaunt-it variety. For the more modest customer, racer-back tanks and draped dresses, many spliced with a futuristic optic print, worked the softer, more approachable side of body-conscious. It was street with a lot of sizzle. And Miller really hit her mark with the toppers — biker jackets and vests in cotton and leather, some cropped in the back for a cool, unexpected effect. Naysayers might argue that such sexy, tough chic is not a new look, but Miller nailed it nonetheless.
