Soft, uncluttered looks were the order of the day in Ann Taylor’s spring collection. Conservative, feminine pieces such as fluid blouses and knee-length pencil skirts, along with pretty sheath dresses, all fit for the office, anchored the line. Though most of the cool and calm groups leaned toward daywear — as in a pink merino sweater over a belted silk ruffled blouse or a sporty cotton drawstring coat over an accordion-pleated top and cropped pants — there were a few after-five selections, too. A black halter gown with rosettes at the waist, for instance, was very chic.
