Better find someplace to go, because the latest pre-fall collections are all dressed up. Vera Wang showed a glamorous counterpart to her Gothic schoolgirl with a few languid throwbacks to Thirties eveningwear, while Monique Lhuillier worked in sensual-but-sophisticated draped dresses. At J.Mendel, Gilles Mendel layered luxurious furs over softly pleated cocktail dresses, and Naeem Khan envisioned his woman as a bewitching goddess cloaked in elaborately beaded blush tones. Even at Helmut Lang, Nicole and Michael Colovos took a more grown-up approach to the season, working floor-length skirts and streamlined jackets into their long, lean silhouette.

"It's really hard sometimes. I think I have a reputation for being really tough and aggressive and pushy but I really am a very shy person who wants to be liked, and that's the conflict constantly. There's something that takes hold - I want people to like me, I don't want to be mean - but if I see something that just cries out to be answered, I go for it," says renowned NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell.
