AUSTIN, TEX. — The words “fashion” and “Texas” usually conjure up visions of the Neiman Marcus set flaunting colorful designer duds and jewels. Not in Austin. The college town and live-music mecca attracted a more down-home, dressed-down crowd during the 10-day South by Southwest festival, which wrapped up Sunday. Denim shorts and overalls ruled, Converse kicks were the preferred shoe of choice, and a girl’s idea of dressing up meant throwing a scarf over a short sundress. Guitar cases were optional, but judging from the lines that spilled out of venues all over town, anyone could have gotten away with that old line, “I’m with the band.”
