Black Brown 1826, the Joseph Abboud-designed men’s wear label, is introducing a premium capsule collection for fall.
Abboud this week showed off the entire collection and provided a preview of the Lux group, which will retail for around 40 percent more than the core line. Offerings will include a double-face blazer for $695, woven sport shirts in assorted patterns for $175, cashmere V-neck sweaters in 24 colors for $225, a plaid wool pant for $145, a quilted leather blazer for $995 and a two-tone twill blazer for $795. “It’s got more of a Milanese feel,” Abboud said. “It’s more classic and has more sophisticated colors and fabrics.”
The higher-priced line, which will sport a black label that says Lux, will make its debut in seven doors of Lord & Taylor and The Bay for fall including the L&T flagship in Manhattan, which is undergoing a $40 million renovation. Jonathan Greller, senior vice president of private brand apparel and wholesale for Hudson’s Bay Co., Lord & Taylor’s parent, said he expects the higher-priced line to be rolled out to 25 to 30 doors in 2014.
The regular Black Brown collection, which has a brown label, is found in all L&T and Hudson’s Bay doors as well as 62 Belk units.
“We believe this brand has a lot of global opportunity,” Greller said. “We’ve been having a lot of great conversations, and there could be other retailers we would work with in the U.S. as well. But whoever we work with would have to be a strategic partner.”
Peter Kim's Los Angeles-based premium denim line has always had its finger on the pulse of youth. This season, novelty is back in a way reminiscent of early Aughts, with studs, lace-ups, racing waxed denim and more. "I was driving back on Saturday afternoon from the beach, and I just saw this sign saying 'Skydiving for $95.' And I was like, I can't not sky dive for $95," says Tom Bateman about a moment in Hawaii while shooting "Snatched." #wwdeye (📷: @vsteves; Interview by @ktauer; Styled by @thealexbadia)
