Huntsman Textile Effects, the Singapore-based manufacturer of high-quality dyes and chemicals to the textile and related industries, has opened a formulation and distribution center in Saõ Paolo, Brazil, it’s 12th such facility worldwide.

The company said the new FDC will enhance its ability to shorten the supply chain in its Americas markets and will focus on the production of dyeing auxiliaries, pretreatment and finishing products for the local textile industry. Huntsman TE said Brazil represents one of the fastest-growing, dynamic markets.

“With the opening of our new, low-cost production facility for formulated chemicals in Saõ Paolo, we will considerably increase our competitiveness and flexibility in textile chemicals in the growing Brazilian textile market,” said Rohit Aggarwal, vice president of Huntsman Textile Effects for apparel and home textiles. “Huntsman Textile Effects is committed to sustainability and looks to develop more competitive, locally sourced formulated products for the local market.”

Huntsman, with about 12,000 employees around the world, had revenues in excess of $9 billion in 2010. It specializes in developing sustainable, high-performing processing and effects chemicals that have low environmental impact and state-of-the-art dyes to reduce water and energy consumption. Among its key sustainable products is Avitera, a tri-reactive dye range that delivers water and energy reductions of about 50 percent during the manufacturing process.
