The snowstorm that damaged the roof of the Metrodome in Minneapolis also impacted Macy’s and Calvin Klein’s VIP customer holiday party at the Herald Square store Monday night. Although active players were originally scheduled to attend the event, which benefitted the Wounded Warrior Project, the team was playing its postponed Sunday night game at Ford Field in Detroit, where it was relocated after the Metrodome incident. But Giants alumni including Amani Toomer, David Tyree, Bart Oates and others turned out for the cause and watched their former team beat the Vikings on big-screen TVs during the event. Attendees also were able to personalize holiday notes to troops overseas and use the multiple Wii and Xbox stations to take on the athletes. Gaming stations were provided by Pro vs. GI Joe, a nonprofit organization that sets up real-time, on-line video game competitions between troops stationed overseas and professional athletes, musicians, celebrities, military officials and politicians. Also in attendance were Macy’s chief Terry Lundgren, Calvin Klein’s Tom Murry, Phillips-Van Heusen’s Manny Chirico and Allen Sirkin. Macy’s and Calvin Klein also donated $20,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project.
