SUPIMA SHAKES UP FORMAT: Organizers of Prefab: The Supima Premium Fabric Show are making changes for the show’s fourth edition. The show will move to a one-day format, occurring July 15 at Gotham Hall in Manhattan, and concluding with a runway show featuring designs from Supima’s inaugural design contest. Supima will host an open call for “emerging designers” on June 17 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Thompson Hotel in SoHo to choose the runway show participants.

RADICI ISSUES AWARDS:
RadiciSpandex Corp. staged its annual “Stretch to the Future” cocktail party last month for three winning design students at the Italian Trade Commission offices in Manhattan. The awards were presented by designer judge and honoree Marc Bouwer; Luciano Radici, regional director of the Americas for Radici Group, and Marty Moran, chief executive officer of the parent company.

The winning students from Kent State University were Jenni Smas, who won the $5,000 grand prize for eveningwear created with fabrics by Milliken & Co., Andrew Spargo for swimwear rendered with fabrics from Darlington Fabrics and Sextet fabrics, and Sydney Sustarsic, for lingerie design with fabrics by Milliken and Startex. Both Spargo and Sustarsic won $2,000.

B&B SETS FABRIC FAIR: German trade show giant Bread & Butter has created a fabric fair that will run alongside its street and urbanwear event in Barcelona. Dubbed The Source, the show will run from July 2 to 4.

So far 60 exhibitors have confirmed for the debut event, which will host around 100 brands. Within the next year, the organizers expect the fair to grow to include around 200 exhibitors. Denim and sportswear mills, along with accessories manufacturers, will show in hall six, with flats, wools and leather producers in hall seven. The event will include a panel discussion with the world’s leading denim designers.
