Textile Exchange is making its annual “Workshop on Textile and Apparel Sustainability” a two-day affair for the first time.
The organization, a nonprofit that aims to accelerate sustainable practices in the textile value chain, will stage its conference March 19 and 20 at Parsons The New School for Design in Manhattan. The first day is focused on “Sustainability Basics,” and will feature hands-on exercises and talks from Textile Exchange experts on the social and environmental impacts of the apparel industry, new developments and initiatives in the field and how to protect a company’s products and integrity through authentic certification and proper labeling. In addition, Christine Brisco, training and development manager (Americas) for the Fair Labor Association, will discuss “Ethical Manufacturing” and how companies can implement better operating practices.
