DayGlo dust bag from my fall collection; an Hermès agenda, because BlackBerrys are only so good; Coach collar and leash for my boyfriend’s dog, Azzedine; the great new Williams-Sonoma cookbook;
Liz Claiborne tartan suit [for women].
Helen Lee Schifter
L.A.M.B. Barcode clutch; Frye Engineer boots in black; dinner and a chilled bottle of Condrieu at Minetta Tavern.
For girls, shoulder pads — they give an automatic attitude; a black turtleneck and little biker shorts. For me, Hanes five-pack of T-shirts. The fabric is great. If you wash them enough you can experiment.
Purple iPod Nano; anything Nike for running; J. Crew summer weight cashmere button-down sweaters in gray, brown and blue; Modo for Jennifer Creel oversize aviator sunglasses in light blue leather.
Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label Champagne in a magnum — it cheers everyone up (and magnums are more fun); Brooks Brothers bamboo handle umbrella; Harrys of London rubber-soled shoes, specifically the Downing loafer in classic black; my Rag & Bone sepia cashmere car coat — it’s fitted without being too fashiony.
Band of Outsiders’ button-down shirt; Levi’s superdark jeans; Converse sneakers. I have every single color and own about 35 pairs; a J. Crew Timex watch; iPhone (must-have for all seasons); Uniqlo sweaters.
My shearling vest from the Charlotte Ronson fall ’09 collection. Obviously, it’s [fake] fur. It’s great with just a T-shirt before it gets supercold; Trilliant by Sebastian. It’s good for moisturizing when the cold is drying out my hair.
Josie Natori: Natorious jersey turtleneck layering piece; Wolford opaque Synergy stockings; Natori fragrance, from the body wash to the cream to the perfume.
Robert Duffy: Single-breasted raincoat; a great-fitting pair of tropical wool pants; skinny jeans; great winter coats in cashmere — skinny with high arm holes.
Nicole Miller: A sweater from Lutz & Patmos — I get a new one every year; a printed top from my Nicole line for J.C. Penney — great to wear with jeans on the weekend; a cobalt ombré cashmere scarf from my fall runway collection.
Thakoon Panichgul: Plaid shirts. I like Surface to Air and APC; a good bomber jacket from APC; leather boots from Common Projects.
Jonathan Adler: White jeans from Ben Sherman. White jeans are a year-round essential; “Beautiful People” in paperback. I’ve read Simon [Doonan]’s book about 75 times; my new Alpaca Squares throw, which is hand-loomed by Peruvian artisans.
John Patrick: “Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer” by Novella Carpenter (Penguin); Organic by John Patrick organic oxford cotton shirts and organic jeans from Acne or Levi’s; Alexander Olch bow ties; Dr. Hauschka Skin Care Spruce Bath; the amazing Hudson River Valley bounty: apples, nuts, grapes, pears, gourds, and pizza made with our own tomatoes and dried marjoram.
