CASTING CALL: His talks with Roland Mouret to become chief designer of Schiaparelli fell through, but Diego Della Valle isn't giving up on his niche couture brand. The Italian mogul is casting his net once again, and one of the biggest fish in it, industry sources say, is Giles Deacon. The two already know each other — and have talked about the Schiaparelli position in the past. It would make sense, considering Deacon's latest, exquisite collection, which was packed with couture-like silhouettes, reengineered for the 21st century. Deacon was traveling at press time and could not be reached for comment. A spokesperson for Della Valle declined comment.

BEACHY KEEN: A chalk-white Dita Von Teese and a deeply tanned Jade Jagger turned up at the Loewe show in Paris on Wednesday. Jagger said she'd just landed in town for the presentation of her new signature clothing and jewelry line today. "There's very much an Ibiza feel to the clothing, with lots of embroidery," said Jagger, flashing a few chunky rings from the line.

BOOK MARK: Those looking for clues to the collaboration between Marc Jacobs and artist Richard Prince for Louis Vuitton had a doozy Wednesday morning. The tent being constructed in the courtyard of the Louvre for Sunday's show boasted a ceiling composed of vintage romance novel covers, all with the words "After Dark" in the title. The book covers are to be papered over with Vuitton's famous monograms.

HEAVEN SCENT: Alexander McQueen has dedicated his show on Friday to his late friend, Isabella Blow, who died in May at age 48. And the colorful fashion director would no doubt have been pleased with the designer's epic, poster-size invitation by illustrator Richard Gray. It depicts a triumphant Blow, in a McQueen dress and a Philip Treacy headdress, in a horse-drawn carriage ascending to heaven.

ALMOND EYES: Eighties icon Marc Almond crawled out of the woodwork at the Jeremy Scott after party at the Elysée Montmartre venue on Tuesday night — and the crowd went wild. Agyness Deyn and her fashion posse, Henry Holland and Gareth Pugh, were among the stage-hangers. Back at the bar, New York DJ act the MisShapes' Leigh Lezark, who appears in the upcoming Roberto Cavalli-H&M campaign, disclosed the group is launching a Web zine later this month. "There will be a lot of fashion content," she said, hinting they're also working on their first fashion collaboration.
