Levi’s Names Management Team

Jennifer Sey has been promoted to global chief marketing officer and Karyn Hillman has been named chief product officer at the Levi's brand.

James Curleigh has drawn from both inside and outside sources to put together his executive team for the Levi’s brand.

Curleigh, who joined Levi Strauss & Co. as executive vice president and president of the Levi’s brand in May 2012, has promoted Jennifer Sey to global chief marketing officer of Levi’s and brought in Karyn Hillman as chief product officer. Additionally, Grant Barth has been promoted to chief merchandising officer and Jonathan Cheung to head of design for the brand.

Sey, Hillman and Barth report directly to Curleigh and Cheung reports to Hillman.

Sey fills a post that’s been vacant since Rebecca Van Dyck left to head marketing at Facebook prior to Curleigh’s arrival. Hillman, Barth and Cheung’s posts are new.

“We’re evolving the Levi’s brand leadership team to include a global product creation, merchandising and marketing structure to help increase our share of consumers’ closets around the world,” Curleigh said. “We are confident that the changes we’re making will allow us to build on the brand’s heritage, expand the relationship with our loyal fans and continue to create innovative product solutions to connect with a new generation of fans.”

Sey, a former Banana Republic executive who’s been with Levi’s since 1999, was most recently senior vice president of e-commerce for the brand and had previously served as both senior vice president of marketing for the San Francisco-based firm’s Dockers brand and vice president of global marketing for Levi’s.

Hillman, a veteran of both the Gap and Banana Republic units of Gap Inc., joined The Warnaco Group Inc. as chief merchant for Calvin Klein Jeans and Underwear in March 2012 and stayed on through Warnaco’s subsequent acquisition by PVH Corp. before departing in June.

Barth spent 16 years at Nike Inc., much of it in Asia, before joining Levi’s as head of its men’s merchandising team earlier this year.

Cheung, who will be responsible for both the men’s and women’s design teams at Levi’s, joined the company in 2009 and was most recently vice president of merchandising for men’s tops. A veteran of both Armani Jeans and Moschino, his first assignment at Levi’s was within the Made & Crafted collection.
