Armani Nephew Exits Fashion House

Giorgio Armani’s nephew Andrea Camerana no longer holds an operative role at the group, but will remain on its board.

MILAN — Giorgio Armani’s nephew Andrea Camerana, a counselor and formerly a licensing director at his uncle’s fashion house, no longer holds an operative role at the group, but will remain on its board.

Following a report in Italy’s Corriere della Sera, Armani, wishing to dispel rumors of a fracture between the two, clarified on Monday that Camerana “will continue to play an important role within the company” as a board member. “My nephew has made a personal choice that will allow him to stay closer to his family and to explore new horizons in business areas different from that of fashion. I’d very much like to underscore that the decision was taken mutually and to deny any inference of frictions or internal disagreements,” said Armani.

The Corriere della Sera report indicated that, according to sources, Camerana had leftover disagreements with his uncle and general manager Livio Proli. “Andrea appreciated and thanked me for my attitude towards him and for having offered him the possibility to grow professionally, giving him total confidence, within the company and in various sectors of the same. And I thank him for his reliability and commitment that he has shown me over the years,” concluded the designer, who also is chairman of his namesake group. Camerana, the son of Armani’s sister Rosanna, was often mentioned as a possible successor to Armani at the helm of the fashion company.
