MILAN — Hussein Chalayan has signed a seven-year licensing agreement with Pier SpA for the production and worldwide distribution of the designer’s women’s wear line.

The first fruits of the collaboration will be unveiled March 1, when Chalayan shows his fall collection in Paris.
“We are very proud to sign this license with a real artist in the fashion industry,” said Pier chief executive officer Alessandro Narduzzi. “This partnership will also allow our company to face important markets, such as Eastern Europe, the Middle East and China, with a perfect luxury product, combining innovative design, high-end materials and an excellent quality.”
Chalayan will keep the reins of his namesake label, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. “Not only does Pier have a great understanding of my brand, but their knowledge of luxury clothing manufacturing and production, as well as their commitment to their integrity of design, are exceptional,” he said. “This agreement will help my independent company with vital production and manufacturing infrastructure, which will ultimately help us to grow.”
Narduzzi also said that the goal for the license is to generate 10 million euros, or $13.3 million at current exchange rates, in revenues within three years.
Treviso, Italy-based Pier already manufactures the collection of a number of international luxury fashion brands, including Azzedine Alaïa, Dior, Dries Van Noten, Kris Van Assche, Nina Ricci and Saint Laurent. The company also counts licensing agreements with labels such as Band of Outsiders, Superfine, Douuod and Worth Paris.
