PARIS — Luxury Goods International (LGI), the Switzerland-based firm that manages the distribution and logistics platform for most of Kering’s luxury brands, has been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for its center in Sant’Antonino.
The distribution hub meets the environmental criteria set by the U.S. Green Building Council and is the first in the luxury sector to attain Platinum, the highest certification level, Kering said Tuesday.
Compared to a standard building in the same location under equivalent climate conditions, the building will allow the group to save around 43 percent on energy consumption, 56 percent on drinking water and 70 percent on total water use.
LGI functions as a worldwide logistic platform and distribution center for luxury brands including Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent Paris, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, McQ, Stella McCartney and Brioni. It already holds certificates for social responsibility, health and safety and the environment.
“LEED certification of our subsidiary LGI is a great accomplishment, and contributes to the global commitment and work that our brands are doing on a daily basis to reach our Kering sustainability targets,” said Marie-Claire Daveu, chief sustainability officer and head of international institutional affairs at Kering.
